DESIGN INTENT: I pushed the symmetry of the Divine Proportion as it applies to nature. The lamp also has a nostalgic quality as it refers to the medieval chandelier and subsequent iterations of this.

INSPIRED BY: Urchin stems from an interest in the essential organic form. Imagery of native Australian sea life, particularly sea urchins.

MATERIALS: Light source: 10 x 1 watt high power Cree XL located in the tips of each spine )mounted and driven by a single constant current powered microdriver. Extruded aluminium tubes finish in white polyurethane.
