Company: Adam Goodrum Design
Exhibit Name: Stitch
Design Intent: I wanted to design a folding chair that would fold incredibly flat and when open would not look like a conventional folding chair
Description: The stitch chair is made from 3mm aluminium and when folded closes to 15mm. 25 folded chairs take up the space of one open chair.
Production: The aluminium components are laser cut and the appropriate hinge knuckles are rolled. Rods are applied to create the hinges and assemble the chair.
There is an opportunity for a mass production plastic injection moulded version with 'live hinges' which would eliminate any assembly cost.
Market: Stitch is appropriate for any indoor or outdoor application that requires a space conscious chair.
You should know: Stitch chair was selected as a best design in the concepts category of the 2004 American International Design Review
